He is the author of several publications, including the book Maintenance, Replacement and Reliability, first published in 1973 and now in its 6th printing.

He is the co-editor with J.D. Campbell of the 2001 published book Maintenance Excellence: Optimizing Equipment Life Cycle Decisions. His new book Maintenance, Replacement & Reliability: Theory and Applications, co-authored with Dr. A.H.C. Tsang, was published by CRC Press, 2006.

Dr. Jardine was the 1993 Eminent Speaker to the Maintenance Engineering Society of Australia. In 1998 he was the first recipient of the Sergio Guy Memorial Award from the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Maintenance profession.
