techniques to real-world decisions in equipment maintenance, replacement
and reliability.
Andrew K.S. Jardine is a Professor and Director of the
Centre for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability
Engineering (C-MORE) at the University of Toronto,
Canada where the EXAKT software for CBM optimization

Production by the University of Birmingham, England.
Dr. Jardine is the author of the economic life software AGE/CON and PERDEC that is licensed to organizations
including transportation, mining, electrical utilities, and
process industries and is author of the OREST software

Airways, the Hong Kong Mass Transit Authority, and the Israeli Electric Authority.
For over 25 years, Dr. Jardine has
been committed to the ongoing process of research, teaching and consultation regarding
advances in maintenance decision-making, with an aim to combining academic theory
with the real world of decisions made in the maintenance field. He is the author
of several publications, including the book Maintenance, Replacement
and Reliability, first published in 1973 and now in its
6th printing.
He is the co-editor with J.D. Campbell of
the 2001 published book Maintenance Excellence:
Optimizing Equipment Life Cycle Decisions. His new book Maintenance, Replacement & Reliability: Theory and
Applications, co-authored with Dr. A.H.C. Tsang, was
published by CRC Press, 2006.
Dr. Jardine was the 1993 Eminent Speaker to the
Maintenance Engineering Society of Australia. In 1998
